One of the great things about summer vacation is that you have time to do things that you normally don't even think of doing… like dressing up your guinea pig (and taking her to Starbucks)!

I'm a bit behind in going through photos, and I do want to write about Tess's birthday. First, though, a bit about Mother's Day (which happened to fall on Tess's birthday but was recognized nonetheless). The girls greeted me first thing in the morning with a lovely "Happy Mother's Day" song, and a totally adorable book they had made for me. Tess then painted me a sweet picture on her brand-new birthday easel. Later, we had a lovely brunch in Portland and Grace gave me a bouquet of "tulips." The rest of the day was devoted to Tess, which was fitting of course. I really loved my little piece of it, though.

Oh, what a happy day. After weeks of planning and preparation, Tess's party day finally came, and she finally got to wear the outfit she had laid out on May 1st. Grace made balloon animals by request, and there was a lot of trampline jumping, and stomp-rocket launching, and general merriment. Oh, and one musn't forget the guinea pig petting area and the donkey pinata. It was certainly a unique party, and it was just how Tess had planned it. I think my favorite moment, though, came when the very last party guests we still hanging out, and Tess went upstairs and put on her footy pajamas, then came back out carrying her blanket and jumped on the trampoline some more. Birthday parties are hard work.

Today is May 1st! The first day of the glorious month in which Tess celebrates her birthday. She has been waiting — WAITING — for this month for quite a while now. She has been planning her birthday party for at least six weeks, and carefully wrote out all of the invitations herself. And today, after the ceremonial flipping of the calendar to the new month (complete with musical accompaniment by Grace), Tess headed upstairs to choose the outfit she will wear on her birthday (note the crown). The outfit will stay there for the next thirteen days (and don't you even think about moving it!). And then tonight at bedtime, after I turned off the light, she turned to me and said, "Mom! We have to make a party hat for Marshmallow!" Yep, May is going to be a lot of fun.

Yep, the Tube Sox are at it again. Last night we attended their season opener, and the girls enjoyed every minute! Tess even stood at the dugout, keeping an eye on the bats and high-fiving players as they came off the field. And tonight the Tube Sox won their first game in two years! I'm sure it's because of Adam's personal (and very adorable) cheering section!

Here are the little beauties at last weekend's wedding. There was a real, professional photographer there, so I was on my best behavior and only took a few photos before the guests arrived. Those adorable little girls walked all the way down the big staircase and across the living room slowly and with great seriousness. Then they stood very, very still and listened intently to the entire ceremony. Well done!
