To my girl Grace,
I have no idea how you got so tall, so funny, and so smart. But here you are — my first-grader, my beautiful, strong girl. My seven-year old. I feel like you're changing every day, right before my eyes.
You love to read, and in the early mornings you stay still and quiet in bed, reading until it's time for everyone else to wake up. You're curious, and you ask a lot of questions (actually, you've always been that way, but now your questions are getting harder to answer). You are enthusiastic about everything, and you're friendly to everyone. You have a huge heart and an amazing ability to make people's hearts sing — especially your sister's. You are always there for her, and you always encourage her and help her, even if it's hard for you.
You're my amazing Grace. And while I hate that you are growing up so fast, I love the person you are becoming. My kind, talented, strong and loving girl Grace.
I love you with all of my heart,
Mom -
Today I made sure to give thanks for all of the little moments:
The sweet sleepyhead moments;
The wacky singing, strumming and dancing moments;
The creative, completely unique moments (yes, that turkey is scotch-taped to her chest);
The silly, uncooperative moments, immediately followed by sweet ones;
And last but not least, the totally nutty, completely hilarious "who are these crazy people?" moments:
These crazy people are my family, and my days are full of good moments. I am very grateful.

As you may have heard, winters in Maine are long and dark and cold and snowy. And did I mention they are cold and snowy? And long? We do our best to get outside in the winter months, but certain things — like scootering — are just not possible. So we're doing our best to enjoy those things as much as possible while we still can. Before it gets cold and snowy. Which, unfortunately, could happen any second.

My two little creative cuties built periscopes with their dad and were entertained for hours last weekend. On Sunday morning, they came downstairs wearing black shawls and I had NO idea what that was all about. But then they informed me that they were SPIES. Of course. Spies always go sneaking around in their jammies at 7:00 am on Sunday. Those two are crazy. And I love it.

If you come to our house this holiday season, you will be greeted with the following note (above): Welcome to our house. PS. I look my best so you should look your best — you do.
And if you're hungry while looking your best — good news! There is a restaurant here, too: Grand opening of this store! Grace Tess Lowe's inf. [infinity] The servers are very sweet, and the food is quite creative, although it is a bit… bland.

What do you do when you wake up too early and have plenty of time before school starts? Why, you make "turkey hands," of course! And what do you do after school while mom is making dinner? Obviously, you make more turkey hands. Because apparently you can never have enough of them.
[Note: Tess did an amazingly good job with her turkey hands (above). She did all the artwork herself — even traced her own hand — and Grace wrote the gobble-gobbles for her. Because teamwork is good when you're making turkey hands.]
