People, have you heard?! It's finally DECEMBER FIRST. You know, the very first day of that most glorious month — the month of Santa, and presents, and family, and carols, and special treats! We celebrated this most wonderful day by donning Santa hats and singing carols together, by breaking out a few favorite decorations, and…

Grace and Tess put on a show for us on Friday. It had a couple of different acts, the best of which was the Peacock Dance. Grace made up her own song about a peacock, then made a mask and held her peacock feather while dancing… like a peacock! It was very creative. The second…

Every Tuesday, the first- and second-grade class gets to spend time with the kindergartners. They call this "K time." For the past two weeks, they've played parachute games. This was sweet enough without adding on the fact that my girls get to be together. They look forward to this time, and feel extra-special since they…

As we do every year, we trick-or-treated on Main Street in Freeport with Grace's oldest friend. It was wonderful and fun as always, and we appreciated the early timing of the event (4-6pm!) and the sunshine. Grace loved running down the street with her friend, and comparing candy. The girls drew the faces on the pumpkins, then we all worked together to scoop them out and do the carving, and VOILA! Now we have two awesome, spooky-cute jack-o-lanterns on our front steps!

In typical Grace and Tess style, they have taken leaf-jumping to another level. They like to rake a big pile of leaves over to the slide and then slide down into it head first. But even that is not always enough — of course, it is even more fun to slide down into each other,…

On Sunday we hiked at Wolfe's Neck State Park, probably our favorite local hike. We've hiked there countless times, but that day we decided to start off on a different trail, one we've never been down before. And we are so glad we did! Check out those amazing rocks — perfect for running and climbing…

On Sunday we took our traditional fall hike up Bradbury Mountain. We missed the peak colors of the changing leaves (such a rainy fall!), but it was gorgeous nonetheless. Of course, having those two vibrant cuties in the foreground makes any backdrop look beautiful!

What do you do at a small-town fair in mid-October? You get your face painted with a ghost — or you get your fingernails painted black. And then you visit the balloon twisters and ask for something Halloween-y, like a skeleton or a black purple cat. Cool.
