Remarkably, no one's shoes got wet on this hike. It was a minor miracle.

On Saturday, we tried out yet another beautiful fall hike. It was chilly and very windy when we reached the overlook at the top of the hill, but that was okay. Because forest fairies don't mind the wind at all. In fact, they quite like it — it helps them flit around the trees.

Yep, we carved pumpkins this afternoon. Which basically means that the girls each scribbled drew a face on a pumpkin, and Adam and I did our best to carve them as ordered. I think we all did a pretty good job.

You would not believe the amount of excitement — and the (not-so) scary witches — buzzing around our house in anticipation of Halloween. And then there's the abundance of (totally adorable) scary artwork, like Tess's ghost. I have no idea how what we're going to do in our free time once Halloween is over!

Yesterday we went apple picking with friends after school. Pulling the apples off the trees is fun and all, but not nearly as fun as immediately eating the apples (which Grace managed to do despite a major tooth handicap).
