Last week we went to the library and Grace chose two books: one called Iditarod Dream (more on that another day…) and one about the horse Seabiscuit. Tess chose several books, her favorite of which is about apples. At the end, there is a recipe for applesauce and instructions for a fun apple craft. Every day since we first read that book, Tess has requested applesauce for dinner. So today, while Grace had a friend over, Tess and I had our apple day. She counted out the apples, washed them, helped operate the slicer/corer, and put the pieces in the pan. She measured out the maple syrup, added the apple cider, and shook in some cinnamon. Then she sat by the stove and stirred. Her efforts were well worth it (and I think I'm going to have to make applesauce with maple syrup from now on!).

Next we did the craft, which was making star prints using an apple core cut in half. Pretty cool. And for those of you on our mailing list, you may very well be seeing one of these in your mailbox soon!
