Both girls got new bikes for Christmas, brought to them by Santa. Adam and I had envisioned great excitement Christmas morning when they walked into the room and saw the bikes next to the tree. But their reaction was more one of… bewilderment. Or perhaps they were just overwhelmed. Or maybe not quite awake yet. At any rate, they are truly happy about the bikes, and because we've had such warm weather, they were actually able to take them out for a spin over the weekend.
On Saturday, Grace rode hers at a nearby park, making us completely proud at her ability to power through slush. She loves her new bike (and helmet), and proudly told all passersby that Santa brought it to her, and it's perfect, and how did he even know exactly what she wanted?!
On Sunday, the girls rode their bikes down our road to a neighbor's house. This was Tess's first try on a real bike with training wheels, but she caught on quickly and had a grand time. She really felt like a big kid riding a bike like her sister's — but her bunny-eared hat reminded us that she's still little. For now, at least.
