The main event of the family reunion was, of course, the wedding. The girls were thrilled with their pretty dresses (petticoats!), sparkly new shoes and cute little baskets full of rose petals. They were also very serious about their duties, though, and asked questions and practiced, then walked very carefully down the aisle. They even stood very still and remained quiet throughout the (short, thankfully) ceremony, even though I had been so focused on the walking and the flower petals that I forgotten to coach them on what to do when they actually arrived at their destination. I was very proud of them. And they were adorable.
Afterwards, of course, they were permitted to eat cake and play tag and draw on the concrete floor with ice (quite inventive, I thought!). After all, what good are frilly dresses if you don't get to live a little in them?
