Last Thursday, Grace didn’t have school, so one of the mothers organized a field trip to a local farm for a presentation about where milk comes from. The most fun part was petting the heifers – young females who haven’t given birth yet (I learned something new, too!). They have very long tongues, which I learned when one licked me down the side of my face. Delightful. Grace declared that she doesn’t like cow slobber, so she offered the curious heifers her elbow, or petted them while they were eating. And Tess simply maintained a respectful distance. Apparently my children are smarter than me – and that’s a good thing!
