Navigating the hilly terrain of motherhood

After a long break, my fingers are rested and I am ready to once again regale you with tales of my two sweet, and spunky, girls. But first, a little bit about Christmas…

Christmas with two little kids is fun, but it’s even more fun with a house full of people you love and two little kids. Lots of laughter, many cooks in the kitchen, and a tiny bit of chaos – Christmas as it should be.

We had a fire in the fireplace on Christmas Eve, much to Grace’s distress: "Oh no! You’ll cook Santa!" But Santa did come, and Grace was very excited to find that he even brought her the two things she had asked him for: a fairy wand and lollipops (will she always be this easy to please?!). What she wanted most, though, was a watch, which makes her feel very grown up – now she just needs to learn to tell time! The last gift she opened, a box of dress-up clothes, provided immediate entertainment – for everyone! Tess had no idea what was happening, but sensed the excitement and, as is her style, was just happy to be along for the ride.

It was beyond wonderful to spend several days in a row with people who are so important to us. We relaxed, cooked and ate good food, played outside a little (all this snow is good for something!) and just generally enjoyed each other’s company. It was all great, and now that everyone is gone, the house seems a little too quiet. So please, family, come back soon!!
